On October 27-28, The first International Development Forum on Textile and Apparel trade-China 2009 was held in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province. Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, PRC, Mr. Chen Jian attended the forum and made a keynote speech. Officials and expertise from The Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic China, The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, The Development Research Center of the State Council, The permanent mission to the WTO of PRC, The China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Textiles and local commercial departments from Jiangsu, Shanghai, Guangdong and Dalian attended the meeting. The forum included three sessions: trade & industry policy, an insight into the market and in the supplier’s view. The forum also invited more than 200 senior representatives from industrial associations and enterprises from European Union, USA, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Chinese Taiwan, Chinese Hong Kong and mainland. The deputy director of the foreign trade department of the ministry of commerce, Madame Bao Ling and the vice chairman of CCCT Mr. Wang Yu co-hosted the forum.

The forum was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, PRC and organized by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Textiles (CCCT) with an aim of congregating the interrelated government officials and exports to discuss the opportunities and challenges of global textile and garment industry in the current financial crisis and post-crisis era and sharing their opinions on trade development of global textile and apparel industry. The forum got a complete success.

Besides, in the afternoon of October 27^th, the Vice minister of the ministry of commerce, Mr. Chen Jian and the Chairman of CCCT, Mr. Wang Shenyang co-hosted the inauguration ceremony of the China export apparel creativity and innovation building base.
