CNTEX Exclusive: Although 2009 is under the shadow of the global economic downturn, China's garment export industry, which has depended largely on exports, already shows a little recovery since March. On September 14-17, the 2009 China Textile & Apparel Trade Fair, supported by the China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), the Sub-council of Textile Industry, CCPIT (CCPIT TEX), and the China National Garment Association, will be held at Parc des Expositions in Paris for the third time.
Against this background, staff reporters from TA Weekly recently interviewed Xu Yingxin, vice secretary-general of CCPIT TEX to share views. He said, CTAF will be together this year with the well-known exhibition TEXWORLD, providing more professional platform and service.
Trade trend
China Customs revealed that textile exports in China had partly rebounded since March as exporters received more export contracts in former months. There are signals of Chinese exports of textiles moving back to world market.
The economic crisis has brought a fundamental shift in international buyers's attitudes and behavior. Although the fashion environment became increasingly difficult and Chinese garment enterprises are pressured internationally, we will continue to move forward with an aggressive remodeling. Mr. Xu said.
Products trends
Lipstick Effect keeps business booming in tough times. According to the data of the Textile & Apparel Office of the Commerce Department of USA, the market share taken by China's apparel products in US markets was 34.24% in first four months of 2009, still rank the first place among others; The export of Chinese textile and apparel products to European markets nearly kept stable development during these years.
Comparing with other overseas exhibitions, CTAF (Paris) will exhibit 100% Chinese products. The enterprises with independent brands are much more encouraged, for its aim is to promote more Chinese domestic textile and apparel brands entering European market, and attract EU consumers to know more about Chinese independent brands.
Domestic enterprises could utilize the CTAF, along with the advantages of TEXWORLD, to search for more charming business opportunities in European markets. Comprehensive, professional and China exclusive it will be a wonderful arena to begin to build back the troubled world we find ourselves in, through a glowing and growing platform of fabulous textiles and garments.
Strategy trend
In recent years, some domestic apparel enterprises "go out" to release fashion collection show, arousing great attention in European markets. We knew that Chinese textile enterprises could establish their own independent brands. We could influence the consumers and buyers by our own products and brand images. We expect that domestic textile enterprises could, through this trade fair, have a better understanding about the EU market and consumption demand. Mr. Xu said.
Being an important governmental organization of textile industry in China, we have to help domestic enterprises in going abroad: we should make the exhibition as the platform, promoting the communication and cooperation between China and EU, Xu Yingxin stated, Besides, supplier-and-buyer matchmaking will be organized along with the show in this year.
According to CCPIT TEX, organizers are trying to reduce the fees for exhibition space. Besides, more financial support may be given to capable textile exhibitors.
It is all in Paris in Sep., so don't complete your buying or your sourcing until you check out Parc des Expositions it proves to be a good day out in more ways than one!
