Located in the south of Yangtze River, facing Shanghai to the east, Wuxi on the west and Nantong actoss the Yangtze River, ,covering an area of 94.4 square kilometers  and a population of 160,000, Tang Qiao town is honored as China National Clean Town, and “China Environmentally Beautiful Town etc. It ranked No.2 among all towns of Zhang Jia Gang for its economic growth. . The year of 2004 witnessed GDP for RMB 4.5 billion, and profit & tax for RMB 900 million, while textile industrial output value represented 80% of the town’s totals.

Reputed as Hometown of Textile, Tang Qiao is unique in its textile growth as can be manifested by an amazing number of 518 textile enterprises and an eye-catching employment of 60,000. And the textile industry is equipped with 1.7 million yarn spindles, and 450,000 wool yarn spindles for worsted fabric, 1500 Rapiers, 1200 circular knitting machines, 24,000 flat knitting machines (of which, 1300 sets imported from Shima- Seike of Japan, Stoll from Germany) which ensures an annual production of 350,000 tons of various yarns, and 26 million meters of worsted fabrics, 135 million meters of denims and other prints & plain dyed fabrics, 120 million units of wool sweaters. The export amounted to $270 million. All local textile companies are very much in care for their famous product brand, like Hua Fang, a national famous brand, Pukun Ruiqun, Lugang, Lanke are also known as well by customers.

Tang Qiao town has a better industry scenario, with 12.6 square kilometers of zone where textile industry is more centralized. With this zone as a background, the textile industry is developing vertically into some relevant industries, taking shape of highly-correlative industrial value chains that witnesses the growth of high-end cotton & wool spinning-weaving & dyeing, knitting textiles, and high-end garment manufacturing and textile machinery etc. At present, there are over 200 enterprises in the zone, with investment of more than RMB 3 billion.
