According to official statistics made by China Customs, China’s gross export of cotton textile and apparel reached USD 15.484 billion in Jan. to Apr., 2006, increasing 30.61 per cent year-on-year, taking up 39.32 per cent of China’s gross export of textile and apparel ( USD 39.376 billion).

In which, China’s export of cotton textile was USD 4.956 billion in Jan. to Apr., 2006, up by 21.40 per cent year-on-year, taking up 32.07 per cent of China’s textile export (USD 15.454 billion; and the export of cotton apparel was USD 10.528 billion, up by 35.45 per cent year-on-year, taking up 44.01 per cent of total export of apparel ( USD 23.922 billion).

The official statistics said that China’s gross import of cotton textile and apparel reached USD 1.896 billion in Jan. to Apr., 2006, increasing 17.55 per cent year-on-year, taking up 34.98 per cent of China’s gross import of textile and apparel ( USD 5.421 billion).

In which, China’s import of cotton textile was USD 1.610 billion in Jan. to Apr., 2006, up by 13.41 per cent year-on-year, taking up 32.82 per cent of China’s textile import (USD 4.906 billion); and the import of cotton apparel was USD 0.286 billion, up by 47.88 per cent year-on-year, taking up 55.60 per cent of total export of apparel ( USD 0.515 billion).
