It is known from the China National Textile and Appeal Council that although China’s textile industry still shows negative growth in exports in the first half of 2009, its portion in international market remains stable. From January to May this year, the trade surplus in China’s textile and clothing industry increases 11.58% year-on-year and the export competitiveness coefficient enhances 1.22 percentage points year-on-year.

Driven by promotion of domestic demand and adjustment of export tax rebate rate in textile and clothing industry, the structural adjustment and industrial upgrading in textile industry are progressing steadily. The industry has gradually recovered from downturn in January-February this year, and many indicators in the second quarter have shown the stable rally of it. From January to May, 51,700 enterprises in China’s textile industry above designated size accumulatively finished RMB1.349665t in industrial output value, with an increase of 5.21%, which is twice of the value in the end of February.
