Visiting Romanian President Traian Basescu on Tuesday welcomed more Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in Romania.
Addressing a China-Romania economic forum held by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Basescu said Romania will offer Chinese entrepreneurs a sound environment for investment.
He said Romania and China enjoy traditional friendship, and the two peoples always support and trust each other. Romania regards its relations with China as a priority in its overall foreign relations.
Romania's economy has continued to grow in recent years, Basescu said, adding his government is strengthening efforts to fight against corruption. Meanwhile, Romania will offer foreign entrepreneurs more convenience in visa application.
"All these factors have provided favorable conditions for Chinese companies to enter the Romanian market," he said.
Romania has FTA agreements with the United States and Canada, and the country will join the European Union in 2007. "These further helps Chinese products enter into the markets of EU, the United States and Canada," Basescu said.
He told Chinese entrepreneurs that Romania is their reliable friend, and will offer them an even better environment for investment.
The Romanian president also encourages Romanian entrepreneurs to seek cooperation in China.
During the forum, more than 300 entrepreneurs from the two countries discussed cooperation in various fields such as textile products, forestry and machinery.
Invited by Chinese President Hu Jintao, Basescu kicked off a three-day state visit to China on Monday.
