Bury St Edmunds' links with China continue to blossom following a brief visit by delegates from the Chinese textile industry to the town's Bosideng clothes store.
Bosideng C a Chinese clothing firm C moved into the Greenwoods store, in St John's Street, last September as part of an ongoing expansion into the European market.
Du Yu Zhou, president of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, made a whistle-stop tour of the shop on Monday to see how the brand had fared during the last seven months. He said he was 'very satisfied' to see the company doing well despite the recession.
"Bosideng has been very welcomed by the British with it's high quality and moderate prices," he said. "It's of great significance to have co-operation between China and the UK."
Bosideng has moved into 85 Greenwoods stores around the UK and has two additional shops which stock only the Chinese company's products.
Neil Roberts, sourcing director for Greenwoods, said plans were in the pipeline for Bosideng to open a further 100 stores over the next five years, which would employ 1,000 people and bring an investment of £10 million into the UK.
