Tool Production Surrender was for producers who become earthquake victims.
Apikri gave the support of production tools for producers who were earthquake victims. This support fund came from our trading partners: FTO (Netherlands) (Euro 6966), SERRV (USA) ( USD 1500 ), and AWEP (Japan) (USD 1500). There were 35 producers who received the tool production support. Our buyer AWEP (Japan) has since become one of our trading partners came to see this production tools surrender to producers. This event was arranged on 20th February 2007.
The kind of production tools given to the producers were, among other things, sewing machines , circular saws, 1 set table for circle machine, dynamo, compressor + dynamo, electric drill machine, disc grenda machines, lather machine for wood, soldering machine, pengurutan, drums for batik coloring, water drums for batik, blower machine (ceramic tool ), gembosan machine (silver tool), polishing machine (silver tool), planner machine (wood tool), embroidery machine (textile tool). In total, there were 46 pcs machines surrendered to the textile, wood, silver, sea sheel, batik, ceramic, candle, natural producers . This meeting was attended also by Head of Trade and Industry Department, Bantul . A journalist of Bernas newspaper was also invited to make a news regarding this program to Bernas newspaper. Special thanks to our trading partner Fair Trade Organisation Netherland, SERRV-USA, AWEP – Japan who give fund for purchasing production tools .
News from Susanti (textile application producer).
Susanti is textile application producer who lives in Sudimoro, Bantul. Her house as well as workshop were destroyed when the earthquake hit. The production tools, such as a sewing machine, brass machine and embroidery machine were destroyed broken completely. This situation it impossible to start her business again after. The support came from SERRV (USA) with design training. This gave her motivation to overcome her ordeal. Then, further support from other Apikri trading partners for her workshop renovation enabled a fast recovery. She received money from Ten Thousand Villages USA and AWEP Japan. Then, she also received support in the form of production tools from AWEP (Japan), which was arranged by Apikri. Now, her workshop is doing well. She can make production process to order.
