Gesamttextil - Central Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry will organise a German National Pavilion at Cinte Techtextil China 2004, International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles & Nonwovens, to take place from 1-3 September 2004 in Shanghai. Funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, the German group of technical textile and nonwoven specialists will present the latest product advancements available in the market, information on processing technology and industry news from their home regions.

Cinte Techtextil China has grown in status and reputation as Asia’s leading trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens, and as such is an attractive marketing platform to many European manufacturers.

Consequently various European countries are looking to present the potential of their national textiles industries by participating in "National Pavilions". Germany is one of those countries, after coordinating the second largest national group in 2002, the organisers hope to encourage even more companies to become involved in the show next September.

“Our aim is to demonstrate the focus and determination of German manufacturers in becoming an invaluable source for the booming technical textile market in China,” says Claudia Saam, of Gesamttextil. “By banding together in a group, the German companies are better prepared to enter the Chinese market. Cinte Techtextil China offers companies a professional, high-quality platform on which to present their products and services. We hope to help companies map out new channels and possibilities for future business in China.”

Relationships between German and Chinese technical textile manufacturers have blossomed over the past decade. In August 2003 the German Textile and Fashion Association – Gesamtverband - signed a co-operation agreement with the China National Textile Industry Council (CNTIC) and the Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT). This new agreement is aimed at fostering business links between the two countries.

Through the agreement both countries plan to develop a closer co-operation on textile and fashion policies. “This is a landmark agreement of world-wide novelty,” says Joself Albert Beckmann, President of Gesamtverband.

For two years now, China has been the number one investment country for the German textile industry. “It is extremely important for German companies to make themselves available to Chinese buyers,” continues Ms Saam. “The market for technical textiles and nonwovens in Asia and in particular China, is maturing at an astonishing rate.”

Forecasts predict that by 2010 Asia will account for almost half the world’s consumption of technical textiles and nonwovens, equalling around 11 million tonnes with a value of US$57 billion.

Cinte Techtextil China is jointly organised by Messe Frankfurt, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT and the China Nonwovens & Industrial Textiles Association (CNITA). The event is supported by leading Chinese associations representing user industries such as:

China Association of Automobile Manufacturers
