Textile trade in China receives government and association support As the financial crisis continues to dampen moods worldwide, China is fighting to preserve their GDP. In fact, the textile industry is one sector that the Chinese government has pledged to support in order to stimulate trade. Mr Yoon Young Sang, Vice President of Korea Fashion Textile Association maintains that textile trade relations between the two respective countries is expected not to be dropped, but rather will be increased by 5% in 2009 from the year 2008. He further commented on the importance of expanding trade with China and using Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics as a gateway to the massive local market. “We have successfully launched 140 Korean brands into the Chinese market and will continue to develop these in order to improve competitiveness within the two regions and strengthen business,” said Mr Yoon. According to Mr Yoon, the goal for Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics is to develop and maintain existing contacts while providing suppliers with a platform to forge new contracts. He further added, “the Korean suppliers will present high-quality functional fabrics and fancy items reflecting buyers needs and the latest industry trends, including eco-friendly fabrics.” In additon to sourcing apparel fabrics from international suppliers and special pavilions, domestic Chinese brands were classified under: ladieswear, shirtings, suitings, jeanswear, functional and sportswear. Meanwhile accessories suppliers will occupy more than one hall at the 2009 fair. Visitors and suppliers at the show can also benefit from a range of seminars on topics led by international industry heavy-weights who are exploring featured themes on apparel and colour trends, technology, sustainability and industry news including legal issues surrounding copyright and trade, plus a number of trend colour forums.
